Todd Franklin isn’t just an ordinary grandpa. Todd Franklin is one of the coolest grandpas. What makes Todd so cool? A little lunch loop and a whole lotta’ love for his granddaughter, Adriana.
We all have those special places, or even routes, that inexplicably mean the world to us. That local restaurant with the house made rolls. The hole-in-the-wall pub where the bartender always knows what drink you’re having. That little bend in the river where the fish always seem to bite. That curvy road where you follow the lines so tightly that you’re certain you could race professionally. Todd sent in his own submission of a special route that he and Adriana regularly take, dubbed their ‘Lunch Loop’.
Airplanes, a ride, a scoop of ice cream- oh my!
To follow Todd’s Lunch Loop, take State Route 36 east from Marysville until you reach Urbana, where you’ll start to head North on State Route 68. Stop for lunch at Grimes Field Airport Cafe, which Todd describes as ‘good, cheap food with famous pie’. (The cafe is complete with both an aviation and a flying lab museum, so it quickly has found its way on our ‘to eat at’ list.) Following lunch, continue heading north on State Route 68 until you reach The Ice Cream Parlor and stop in for hand-scooped ice cream in West Liberty. Start heading back towards Marysville by taking State Route 245 east, a curvy and scenic route past the Ohio Caverns.
Thanks for sharing with us, Todd!
