1966 BSA Lightning

Here’s another classic beauty that we’ve had the pleasure of working on here in the shop. When it arrived, the carbs leaked and the inside of the tank was rusty and in need of repair.

We sent the tank out to be tumbled and coated with ‘Red Kote’ tank sealant. The petcocks were old and made of cork, so we upgraded them to o-ring style shut-offs, thereby bringing them into the twenty first century. After going through the old Amal carburetors and with the owners consent, we made the decision to permanently fix the problem by replacing them with new Mikuni carburetors. Installing these carburetors was no easy feat- our mechanics had to fabricate special mounting bolts to accommodate the carburetor flanges.

Now that the job is complete, this Lighting is back on the road and running beautifully!
