Last week we had the pleasure of attending the 2017 AIM Expo at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
While the first two days were dealer-only, the exhibition opened up to the public for the weekend. We know of several customers that attended, but also got feedback that many of you had no idea it was even taking place in Columbus this year. That’s a bummer, because we felt that it was a great show and were thrilled that for the first time ever, Columbus was chosen as the location for this event.
The show was filled with drool-worthy bikes, the industry’s latest gadgets, and people who share our same passion.
We had a great time, despite Rachel constantly having to remind the guys that the “Do Not Touch” signs meant exactly that: don’t touch.
Look for the return of the Expo to Columbus in September of 2019, but in the meantime here’s our top 10 favorite bikes from the show:
1. Kawasaki 2-Stroke Race Bike
This lime-green throwback gave us all the feels.
The picture truly does it no justice. The paint job on this chopper was immaculate, with fish-scale inlays and enough sparkle to catch your eye from across the room.
3. BMW
We’re not sure what to call this eclectic design, but it was definitely worth a second look. John choose this guy as his “show favorite” due to it’s one-of-a-kind design.
The bold decals, bright colors, the GP designation. ‘Nuff said.
This is another one that can’t be appreciated without seeing it in person. The scoll work was insanely delicate and detailed.
Rachel’s pick for it’s simplistic, classic design- not to mention it’s probably the only bike she’d feel comfortable jumping right on and riding.
7. Chopper With 2 Carbs
As you can see in the additional photograph below, this chopper is especially unique due to it’s 2 carb setup- a particularly uncommon occurrence in a Harley-style motor.
A long-time running favorite sport bike for many, this CBR caught our eye with its Americana color-scheme.
It probably comes as no surprise that this was Dain’s favorite pick from the Expo. He’s been drooling over these dirt-to-snow conversion kits for some time, and was thrilled to finally get to see one in person.
This supercharged motorcycle is the most powerful production motorcycle as well as the fastest. The neon powder-coated frame and star-shaped one-sided wheels are just a bonus.
